Learn how to use Google Adwords to market your products or services on the Internet

You'll be using a direct-marketing method, so you'll only market to people who:

1. Are looking for your product or service right now

2. And you're only paying when someone clicks on your Google Ad to go to your website.

Check Out Your Competitiors And Do Keyword Research

Before you start using Adwords, go to spyfu.com, to see which keywords your competitors are bidding on in Adwords, and what they're paying for each click. Now you have an idea what your competitors are doing an your target market looks like, you can start with your own Adwords campaign.

Before setting up your Google Adwords campaign, you need to do keyword research to find out what your prospects and customers are looking for. The easiest way to do this is to go to Wordtracker.com or http://inventory.overture.com and type in the keywords which your visitors will most likely use — to find your products or services.

Also think of synonyms and other diverse terms they might use to find you too. You will also find out how much competition you have for these specific keywords. So generally you want to find keywords which have lots of visitors for your product or service and not too many competitors.

The second step would be to take these keywords and to set up Google Adwords campaigns in your newly created Google Adwords account. We then break these campaigns into tightly matched keyword groups: For example, if our campaign was about dogs, we would create a campaign about Labradors, Alsatians and Rottweilers. Within The keyword group for labradors, we would for example have words such as Golden Labrador, Silver Labrador, Black Labrador etc.

At a later stage you can always subdivide these keyword groups still further if you find that you can create a more specialized keyword group for gold labradors. By creating tightly matched groups of keywords, visitors looking for a black labrador will be able to find specific information about this type of dog.

Remember Your Negative Keyword List…

Remember to also set up a negative keywords list. This is a list of words which you do not want your visitors to use to get to your web page. Look at your keywords your found during your research and decide which ones will simply waste your money if your target market clicks on them. Include these in your negative keyword list.

Setting up a negative keywords list will allow you to save money and improve it the click through rate of your campaigns to your web pages. The click through rate is important, because a good click-through-rate gets rewarded by Google with a cheaper cost-per-click.

Match Your Keywords to Your Webpages…

Your keywords about your dogs should now match the keywords on the webpage where you send your AdWords visitors to. In other words your web pages will also be about Golden labradors Silver labradors and Black labradors. Remember to create a special web page for each keyword group so that you can send your visitors to the exact page that they are looking for. Do not send the visitors you get from your Adwords campaigns to your homepage. You'll only frustrate your visitors.

Your next step would be to create the actual ads in Google Adwords. Create two google ads, so that you can test the one ad against the other ad. This way, you continuously test which ad performs the best. You are now well on your way to creating effective Adwords campaigns to make money for your business.
