How to Link to Your Site with Blog Comments & Blogging Comment Software

By Riggie Freyer

This article helps you to understand how to comment effectively on other blogs to boost the ranking of your website or blog. You might say… I know all that! But stay with me, you might get some handy tips in this article.

To get a link back to your site from a blog, you simply enter a comment at a blog like this:

I know many of you go to blogs which use the "KeywordLuv" script to get links. By the way, it allows you to put "YourName@YourKeywords" in the Name field (The blog links back to your site with "YourKeywords") — and that's fine. But soon you'll run out of these KeywordLuv blogs.

Then simply find blogs which are "Do follow" blogs (See below how to find them) and comment in the "Name" field with your keyword like I did above. In the name field I put "Riggie – Internet Business".

Most webmasters won't mind this… and I get a useful link with the keyword "internet business" back to my site. This is all you have to do… enter your name and your keyword in the "Name" field and you have a link back to your site, that's if the blog is a "Do Follow" blog.

To find those "Do Follow" blogs…

… go to ezbusinessneeds.com and repository101.com which are free websites helping you to find "Do Follow" blogs. Or get a piece of software called Fast Blog Finder which does a great job finding "Do Follow" Blogs. It does a pretty good job of finding "Do Follow" blogs too.

The software allows you to enter keywords, and goes off to find "Do Follow" blogs. It even shows you how much PR and outbound links a blog has. Now you can easily and quickly comment on one or two blogs in a day :-)

I'm often asked how often one should comment on other blogs. Well, just like with any other method you apply to boost your site, use blog commenting as a part of your linking strategy. I personally wouldn't post more than one or two comments a day, as the search engines may pick up an "unnatural" amount of commenting which is linking to my site.

So… get links from article directories, web directories, web 2.0 sites etc. and simply include blog commenting.

A fun way to get people to read your posts
and to brand yourself on the net,

is to add your photo at gravatar.com. You simply create a free account and then go to Account –> Add an Image. Then you add an image of yourself…. and voila… you photo appears next your comments on most blogs! Very cool.

In closing, remember to post quality articles to your own blog at least twice a week, and probably a maximum of twice a day. This gives your own blog a solid reputation on the net, and other blog owners will gladly post on your blog too :-)

Well I hope this article helped you a step further in your quest to succeed in linking to your site. Please comment and let me know what's on your mind…

Hi Riggie
I can only emphasize how important it is to make quality comments. I run a do follow blog search, too, and even though I clearly state on my site that you should make sensible comments, I get trash comments, too. People seem to be unable to read…

Hi Mike,

Yes, you're right. I get a mixture of quality, sensible comments to
very trashy ones.

The sooner we all learn to help each other and comment sensibly,
the sooner we'll all profit.

-Riggie

Riggie

Yeah, I guess everyone struggles with that. I am always a little bit in doubt whether I should delete those comments, as they are not outright spam like all this viagra stuff, but on the other hand they contribute nothing, so I delete more and more often…

You're right on the money. I'm deleting the non-contributing comments too.

-Riggie

Yes I use Akismet, too. By the way…branding yourself on the net with gravatar.com… You look very much like a collegue of mine, perhaps that made me stick to your blog and subscribe your feed ;-)

What I like about blogs that use KeywordLuv is the owners of the blogs (like you and I) know that blogging is a community, and a community that grows through linking and relating to each other. And why not get a little extra benefit through targeted keywords? Good comments for the blog owner and readers and a little google juice for the commenter. I do agree that you need to use judicious use of moderation though.

Nice blog and good post. I'm kind of torn on the number of posts per day. I've seen some forums recommend no more than 20 per day which is on the high end. I think 2 per day can't hurt.

Hi Riggie! Thanks for this article. Question: There are a number of DoFollow blog directories. Do you know of a KeywordLuv directories?Regarding how often I should comment, are you referring to per day/per blog, or per/day in general? And if I make more than 1 or 2 comments a day, could you elaborate on how that would be bad/what does google see that could penalize the keyword linked site?Regarding the DoFollow directories, while I've found most of them to be accurate, I like to check and make sure myself. I used to check the source code, but found that this was taking up too much time. I found a great ff plugin that highlights in red nofollow links from:http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/Thanks in Advance! great stuff here.DTs last blog post..Popular free-to-play browser game The Witcher:Versus adds premium content via microtransactions

I've been experimenting with dofollow, commentluv and keywordluv on a couple of blogs. I was afraid I would have to spend more time moderating and deleting spam but so far so good. I am attracting more and better comments and Akismet handles the spam pretty well. Thanks for posting some sensible guidelines.

Hey Riggie,

Another method I've used is to do a search on "U comment, I follow". this works especially well in google image search for some reason.

Phil

Thanks for the tips. Not withstanding, I believe comments should be relevant to the topic, this improves the relevancy of the page to the keywords targeted as well. A lot of people abuse this great opportunity and will get this someday flagged in the SE.

Thanks

Here's my commenting strategy:

I search for Keyword Luv and then Comment Luv blogs using Fast Blog FInder and verify that they are all DoFollow.

I then subscribe to them in my feed reader and put them into "Keyword Luv" and "Comment Luv" folders so it's easy for me to prioritize.

Then I sift thru posts to find something I want to comment on and make a quality post. There are so many to choose from that there is no need to just spam someone's blog with useless comments.

This is really helpful and has been an issue for me, as simply posting name to "Name" field won't help my keyword ranking.
A question!
linking with my name "name – keyword" for do-follow blog will have same impact as the simple keyword link?

I love this keywordluv feature! It gives bloggers new posts and webmasters more traffic. Everyone wins. Thanks for supporting the dofollow movement!

Site Designers @ 2:33 pm

And you also must take care not to overuse keyword phrase as link text in comments, or otherwise Google might lower your SE ranking (your site could be banned).

Riggie Freyer @ 5:12 pm

Yes… When you comment on a "do-follow" blog, the "name – keyword" will
be almost as effective as the "keyword" link.

It's all about Google seeing your keyword getting linked often to the page you want to rank well.
And the "name – keyword" form will simply add variation to your linking… you're not linking in
the same way every time, and this a good strategy to follow.

Hi Riggie,

I understand what you are saying about commenting for links, but why only 1 – 2 a day?. I know that you want your incoming links to look natural, but 1-2 is very low.

The reason I say this is because you don't know when your comments will be approved (if at all). Secondly, no one knows when Google will count these links.

Sorry to go on, its just a thought.

One of the prior contributors covers what I think is the most important thing in blog posting: make a meaningful comment. Let's face it, as many of us are blog owners as well, nothing wastes more time than having to moderate crappy, one line spam comments like "great info", nice blog", "great info", etc. If people would stop doing that and take to time to post meaningful comments that add to the post, then everyone would benefit. The blog owner gets some nice content for free while the poster gets a link back to his or her blog. I wish folks would stop trying to "game" the system.
